MBBA History In 1964, George Woodbury, a public accountant who had recently left his longtime role as corporate controller, arrived in Aptos, California, looking to start a consulting firm serving the small businesses and individuals of Santa Cruz County, his new chosen home. Services would include financial management, full-service bookkeeping and income tax preparation. In March 1964, Monterey Bay Business Advisers was born. Within six months, sixty-five clients were being served by MBBA, some of which are still with us today. Business incorporation followed in September of 1966. MBBA Staff George Woodbury, President George started Monterey Bay Business Advisers in 1967 after relocating his family from Fresno, California. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration with an accounting specialty and has been working in the field of accounting and finance since 1964, beginning his career as office manager for United Liquid Gas Company. His responsibilities grew with the company and he eventually became Secretary/Treasurer for the merged operation known as Vangas, Inc. George provided invaluable financial management services to the company until his move to Santa Cruz County in 1963. Today, George continues to bring these skills to the clients of Monterey Bay Business Advisers, Inc. and has no plans to retire.
Leslee Long, Vice President Leslee has been working for Monterey Bay Business Advisers, Inc.-- founded by her father in 1967--in some capacity since its inception, currently serving as Vice-President / Bookkeeping Manager. No stranger to small business issues, Leslee was the owner of MacFarlane's Candies in downtown Santa Cruz and the Capitola Mall and has worked as a full-charge bookkeeper for Cabrillo Lanes in Watsonville and the Surf Bowl in Santa Cruz. Leslee is a member of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers and serves on the Aptos Chamber Board of Directors.
Eric Kennedy A native to Santa Cruz County, Eric received his B.S. in Business Administration, with concentrations in Corporate Finance and Financial Services from San Francisco State University. Prior to joining MBBA, Eric cultivated his skills in management, customer service and computer applications within the banking industry. Eric is also a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. |
